Makena Entertainment is a premier event company specializing in Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, Soca, and R&B events across the United States and Europe. We create immersive cultural experiences — from intimate day parties to large-scale festival weekends — that celebrate African and Caribbean music, community, and good vibes. Makena Entertainment hosts events in two main locations:

• Washington D.C. / DMV area — Our AfroPlusFest DC series brings the culture to the nation's capital with parties across multiple DC venues.
• Portimão, Portugal — We host exclusive after-parties and curated events during the Afro Nation Portugal festival week, including pool parties, boat parties, and night events along the Algarve coast.

Our events feature a mix of Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B, Dancehall, Soca, Kompa, and Afro-fusion sounds. Each event has its own vibe — some nights are dedicated to a single genre (like our Amapiano vs. Afrobeats parties), while others blend multiple sounds throughout the night. Check each event's description for the specific genre focus.

Tickets are available directly on this website for the lowest prices and instant delivery. Simply find the event you want, select your ticket tier, and complete checkout with your card. You'll receive your ticket with a QR code by email immediately after purchase. Tickets are also available on our Eventbrite page.

Yes. For AfroPlusFest DC we offer multi-event passes that give you access to several parties at a discounted rate compared to buying individually. We also have group trip packages for Portimão, Portugal. Check our AfroPlusFest DC page for current pass options, or contact us at admin@makenaevents.com for group inquiries.

After your purchase is complete you'll receive an email with your ticket code and a QR code. Save this email — that's your entry pass. You can also view your ticket anytime at makenaevents.com/ticket using your ticket code. At the door, our team will scan your QR code to check you in. If you don't receive your email within a few minutes, check your spam folder or contact us at admin@makenaevents.com.

Most Makena events are fashion-forward and stylish — think elevated streetwear, Afrocentric fits, and bold colors. Specific events may have a themed dress code (e.g., All White, All Orange) which will be clearly stated on the event page. We ask that all guests dress to impress and arrive ready to celebrate. Athletic wear and overly casual attire may not be permitted at certain events.

All ticket sales are generally final and non-refundable. In the event that a Makena event is cancelled or significantly changed by us, affected ticket holders will be contacted directly with options.
